Before buying or renewing your home insurance policies, it is always best to remember tips that will help you get the best deals.
Always remember that it is important to ask your insurance agent on what isn’t covered by your insurance policy. It is also important to meet the payment of your premiums because non-payment can be a reason for the cancellation of your insurance policy. A bad record from one insurance company can make it hard for you to apply for another.
In claiming or even with just talking to your insurance agent, always tell the truth and do not miss out any details.

Calling your insurance company representative or agent is also essential in installing a pool. Informing them is important because having a pool increases the risk of liability. It is always advisable to purchase additional coverages for liability. Pool owners may consider increasing their liability protection from $100,000 to $300,000 – $500,000.
Some agents or representatives advise homeowners to purchase an additional umbrella liability policy to have as much as $1 million of liability protection in your home with just an additional premium of $200 – $300 a year.
If the cost of the construction of the pool is expensive, you should also have enough insurance protection for its replacement if it gets destroyed by a disaster.

A swimming pool is a magnet for accidents and injuries and they need to be insured and maintained and comply with safety standards.
According to statistics, more than 3,200 people drown each year and most victims are children whose age is between one and four who were left unsupervised for only five minutes or less.
Before installing a pool, it is advised to contact your town or municipality because each town has a different definition of a pool. If the pool that you are planning to build meets the standard size and depth, then complying with the local safety standard is the next step. This usually includes building a protective fence around the pool and having safety equipments within reach.

As expected, after the party the house was a total wreck. The cost for clearing and renovating reached thousands of dollars. But the worst part of it is, the insurers refused to pay for the damage because they asserted that it wasn’t included in the home insurance coverage.
The moral lesson: check out the coverages of our insurance policy and make sure all your possible needs are addressed. Also, tell your teenagers, ‘no Myspace parties at OUR house!’

In the first entry, we have discussed the first two areas covered by the basic homeowners insurance on the previous post and now let us proceed to the next two. Liability protection is protection from any lawsuits filed against you and your family members that results in bodily injury or property damage. It is the area where most experts say the safest amount of coverage would be for around 300,000 but basic policies go for as low as 100,000. Some people even go for higher rates into the millions just to be sure. It can even cover damage caused by your family pet if it so stipulates.
