So you’re turning another year older and you invited your friends to come over and have a swimming party. Unfortunately, your bestfriend slipped and got injured. Doesn’t that hurt?

Are you aware that this is also covered by the basic home insurance? It is included also so that the injured can go directly to the insurance who in turn would reimburse their expenses without that person having to file a suit against you, the homeowner. Always keep in mind that this coverage can settle for other peoples misfortune inside the home but it excludes medical expenses for you and your family pet. Remember that!

Do you know that pet damage may be covered by your basic home insurance? I bet you didn’t know that. You may not notice it before because they are not specifically mentioned in the contract. Pet damage is a standard cover in the United States because pets are like a part of the families of US Families. If your dear doggie named Freddie bit the son of your neighbor who was playing with his yellow ball in the yard, all the parents of the little boy needs to do is to submit the receipts to your insurance company and they will take good care of the reimbursement process. Don’t you ever fret if your neighbor file a case against you and your doggie named Freddie because that is covered too!

Are natural disasters covered on your home insurance policy? There is a big possibility though it is shown that home insurance policies differ from state to state and from one provider to another. Most policies have a well defined coverage of such natural disasters like fire, hurricane damage though some may not be covered like flood, earthquake among others. It is best to ask your agent about the specific details of the coverage before you sign to prevent high blood pressure later. As we’ve mentioned in the previous entries, one must read and understand the policy. If you’re having a difficult time, you can consult your lawyer to review the policy to avoid possible troubles later on.

The most basic form of home insurance is the Homeowner’s Policy. It covers four areas: The House Structure, that includes all the personal properties within the house. The Liability protection and coverage is for added living operating cost when something stops you from living in your home. The first coverage area means that the insurance company would pay for the revamp or rebuild of the house in case of fire and any other disaster listed in your policy. The next covers your possessions say they are stolen so the insurance pays for that stolen item based upon its face/assessed value. The next two will be discuss further in the next entry.

In the first entry, we have discussed the first two areas covered by the basic homeowners insurance on the previous post and now let us proceed to the next two. Liability protection is protection from any lawsuits filed against you and your family members that results in bodily injury or property damage. It is the area where most experts say the safest amount of coverage would be for around 300,000 but basic policies go for as low as 100,000. Some people even go for higher rates into the millions just to be sure. It can even cover damage caused by your family pet if it so stipulates.
