GALVANIZED/LEAD PIPES: Older plumbing are more prone to cracks and leaks. Having a galvanized or lead piping means that your plumbing is older. Insurance companies prefer updated plumbings of homes.

ELECTRICAL SERVICE: Instead of having fuses that increases the chance of fire, it is more preferable to use breakers.

HEAT SOURCE: Some homes still have oil-heaters as a source of heat during cold weather. They are an environmental hazard and insurance companies prefer electric heat which is more environment friendly.

WOOD STOVES: Wood stoves are common cause of carbon monoxide poisoning and house fires. So it is best to consult your insurance company before buying or renting a home that uses a wooden stove.
